THREE UNIQUE ACCOMMODATIONS FOR YOUR NEXT CANADIAN ROAD TRIP

Between the unreal landscapes and vibrant cities, Canada has something for every traveller. If you’re planning a road trip through the Great White North, then you’ll likely be looking for places to stay overnight. But why stay in a hotel when you can experience something a little more unique?

From the quirky to the offbeat, here are three unique accommodations for your next Canadian road trip.

Option 1: Tiny Cabin in the Woods

Surrounded by nothing but hectares of wooded forest, this tiny cabin is ideal for nature lovers. It's located in Fernwood Hills in southern Ontario, just a short drive from London, although it feels like an entirely different world.

Obviously, the cabin is tiny (only 2 x 3 meters wide), although the large floor-to-ceiling windows make it feel much larger. It does come equipped with a mini-fridge and heater, although the shared bathroom is located some ways from the cabin.

That moment you wake up and it’s snowing outside

Whether you come in summer in the middle of winter, you're guaranteed to love the secluded quietness and tranquillity of this tiny romantic cabin!

Option 2: Camping in the Backcountry

If you're looking for a truly off-the-grid camping experience, then this is the accommodation for you. It's located in the middle of a forest in the Temagami backcountry and is only accessible with snowshoes. But don't worry, your guides with Temagami Outfitting Co. will take care of all the planning, transportation, and even cooking!

At night, you’ll sleep in a tent with the snow and winter foliage right under your toes. Thankfully, there is a stove and plenty of fur blankets to keep you warm throughout the night. Unfortunately, there's no bathroom (you're in the middle of nature!), although there is a central dining tent where you will share meals and stories with your guides.

The best part about this experience is that you have the forest practically to yourself. Snowshoeing, ice fishing, snowman making – the forest is your oyster!

Option 3: Winter Treehouse

Venture into French Canada and spend a few luxurious nights in the spectacular treehouse! But be warned, this isn’t your childhood treehouse. It’s a modern, micro-house with a full kitchen, bathroom, and sprawling outdoor terrace (with a BBQ and firepit). If you’re visiting in winter, then you can use the indoor fireplace. There’s also air conditioning to cool you down in those hot summer months.

But what makes this home is the jaw-dropping views over the forest and neighbouring mountains. You can even see the city of Quebec in the distance! The treehouse is two stories and perched on the slopes of Mont-Tourbillon, with panoramic views from every room in the house!

There's no TV, but there is WIFI if you don't' want to disconnect completely. Overall, this treehouse is a good choice if you're missing the amenities of home!

Accommodation is only one factor to consider when planning a road trip – but it's a very important one! Sleeping somewhere unique, like a tiny cabin, heated tent, or mountainous treehouse will make your experience that much more memorable.
