Since I was little my parents have been taking me on adventures around the world, so I completely blame them for infecting me with the travel bug.
Meet Hunter
Hi, I’m Hunter - a cheeky toddler who loves adventures. Since road-tripping around Australia in our van for a whole year I have officially caught the travel bug.
Meet Jess
Hi, I’m Jess – pure Aussie & proud.
This may come as a surprise, but my first international trip (and first time flying) wasn’t until I was 19. Stephen & his family took me on a family holiday to Bali in Indonesia.
Meet Koa
Hi, I’m Koa – the littlest member of Flying the Nest. I may be new around here, but I was born with a love for adventure!
Our story starts back in 2015 when the desire to drop everything to fly the nest overwhelmed us. Before we knew it we were boarding a one way flight across the globe … and we have never looked back.
We are Stephen, Jess, Hunter & Koa Parry-Valentine, an Australian family with a passion for travel & adventure!
Welcome to Flying the Nest
Since then we have travelled to over 80 countries. Hiked to Machu Picchu in Peru. Explored the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt. Floated in a hot air balloon over Turkey. Slept in an overwater bungalow in the Maldives. All whilst bringing over 2,000,000 fellow travel addicts along for the journey.
Not only can you read about our travel adventures on this blog, you can also watch our travel video series over on our Flying the Nest YouTube channel – which has grown to become one of Australia’s most subscribed travel channels on YouTube.
We are now on our biggest adventure yet – raising our little ones, Hunter & Koa.
Meet Stephen
Hey, I’m Stephen – South African born & Australian raised.
Since I was little my parents have been taking me on adventures around the world, so I completely blame them for infecting me with the travel bug.
Ever since my school days where I picked up my first camera I’ve had a passion for capturing our beautiful world. This love for film and photography carried through my studies at film school before heading to University where I gained a Bachelor in Marketing, Advertising & PR and a further Honours in Business.
There’s nothing I love more in life (besides my little family) than completing a travel video I’ve spent hours editing and hitting that upload button. I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the support we receive from each and every one of you. So thank you!
My role in Flying the Nest is filming and editing all our YouTube videos, as well as main videography & photographer.

Meet Jess
Hi, I’m Jess – pure Aussie & proud.
This may come as a surprise, but my first international trip (and first time flying) wasn’t until I was 19. Stephen & his family took me on a family holiday to Bali in Indonesia and I have been hooked ever since!
They say to “choose a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life” and I think I have found just that.
My role in Flying the Nest is being Mummy to Hunter & Kao, secondary photographer, editor of images, running this blog, managing all our social media accounts and working on business collaborations and sponsors (so I basically make sure everything else is running smoothly so Stephen can focus on editing our YouTube videos).

Meet Hunter
Hi, I’m Hunter - a cheeky toddler who loves adventures. Since road-tripping around Australia in our van for a whole year I have officially caught the travel bug. From the sandy beaches to the vast outback, I’ve seen it all down under. But my adventures haven’t stopped there. I’ve now explored over 20 countries, and in each one, I’ve been on a mission: to taste every local snack I can get her hands on and conquer every playground I stumble upon.
My role in Flying the Nest is to make my family laugh & to make sure we all wake up bright and early every morning to watch the sunrise together (I’m an early bird).
