48 HOURS IN SALT LAKE CITY | EVERYTHING TO SEE & DO
Salt Lake City is Utah's most populous city, although it feels like a charming small town thanks to its historic architecture and stunning natural surroundings. We’ve spent a lot of time in SLC, although first-timers can easily see the biggest sights in just 48 hours. Here are some of our favourite, must-see attractions when you come to SLC!
If you are busy planning a trip to Salt Lake make sure you watch our YouTube video below sharing with you everything we got up to during our 3 day stay and keep on scrolling for more info.

Where to Stay
To make the most of your trip, we recommend basing yourself in the city centre. On our most recent trip, we stayed at Hotel Monaco, which included a 48-hour SLC pass to see numerous attractions around town.
However, it’s also possible to stay outside of downtown, near Capitol Hill, Sugar House, or the Foothill neighbourhoods. If you’re planning to spend most of your time in the mountains, you can also stay at a ski resort or lodge further out of the city.
Things to Do
Bobsled in Utah Olympic Park
This sprawling complex from the 2002 Winter Olympics is a playground for sports enthusiasts. Although the Olympics are far from over, you can still come here for skiing, snow tubing, and even bobsledding (which we can honestly say is one of the most exciting things ever!).
Grab Breakfast at Eva’s Bakery
If you're craving freshly baked pastries and mouthwatering sandwiches, then make sure to visit Eva's Bakery at least once during your trip. It's located right in the heart of downtown, so it's easy to pop by for a quick bite to eat before you continue with your day.
Hit the Slopes
If you happen to be visiting in winter, then you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to mountains and ski resorts. There are 11 resorts located within an hour of SLC, including Park City, Deer Valley, Alta, and Brighton. Regardless of whether it’s your 1st or 101st time on the slopes, you’ll have no problem finding a trail where you can ski or board to your heart’s desire.
Take the Snowbird Aerial Tram
Soak in the breathtaking views to the top of Hidden Peak while you ride the 1.6-mile Snowbird Aerial Tram. It's open in winter and summer, making it an excellent way for non-skiers or hikers to experience the natural beauty of Utah.
Visit One of the Many Museums
SLC is home to over a dozen museums. Art lovers, history buffs, and science explorers will all be able to find a museum that fits their interests. Since we had Hunter, we decided to visit the Discovery Gateway Children's Museum, a wonderland of interactive exhibits for kids (and playful parents, too!).
Admire the Beautiful SLC Architecture
Spend a few hours walking around the city, and you'll see some of the most impressive buildings in all of Utah. Marvel at the imposing Salt Lake Temple, gawk at the gothic-style Salt Lake Assembly Hall, or visit the Utah State Capitol Building, which looks like a mini version of the US Capitol Building in Washington DC.
Enjoy a Meal inside a Snowglobe
What’s more magical than enjoying a warm meal inside a snowglobe on a snowy day! We highly recommend taking the scenic drive out to Midway and booking a table at Cafe Galleria. Here they have stunning Alpenglobe private dining shelters where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner.
