WESTERN AUSTRALIAN CAMPING TRIP: A WEEKEND AT JURIEN BAY
Both of us grew up in Australia and some of our most treasured childhood memories involve packing up the family car and heading on a good old Australian camping trip. Whether you live in Perth or you are heading over to see our incredible beaches you can easily do a camping trip from Perth to Jurien Bay in a weekend.
Day 1: Jurien Bay
With a 2 and a half hour drive up to Jurien Bay we recommend you get up early and do all the driving on your first day without any stops. Here you can claim your campsite early and spend the rest of your day exploring the local sights.
Where to camp:
We opted in to camp at the Sandy Cape campsite which honestly was a very cheap ($12 for 2 adults, 2 kids and $4 for additional adults). You are situated right on the beach with BBQ and toilet facilities present. Just make sure you are back from exploring to sit on the dunes to watch the sunset in the distance.
What to see:
Jurien Bay Marine Park: This protected marine park is home to sea lions, seals and dolphins. If you forgot to bring your snorkel gear we recommend you hire a pair from the local surf shops to see a beautiful Australian beach.
Drovers Cave National Park: Here you can see the limestone caves of Drover whilst exploring the natural bush of Western Australia's floral and fauna.
Skydive Jurien Bay: If you plan on heading to Australia to Skydive then the closest location to jump from Perth is at Jurien Bay. We personally ticked skydiving off our bucket list in Dubai but we have had plenty of high school friends make the jump up here.

Day 2: The Pinnacles
About 40 minutes back on the coast and on your way towards Perth you will pass Cervantes and head towards the Nambung National Park which contain the natural marvel that is The Pinnacles. These rock spires are on display like an ancient sculpture museum and if you purchase entry you can also enter the Yanchep National Park as apart of your ticket.

See some Kangaroos and Koalas at Yanchep National Park
Kangaroos can be found with not much effort required in Australia but if it's Koala's you are after then they are a little harder to find due to their tree living conditions. Lucky for you Yanchep is easily accessible on your return to Perth with Koala's easily in sight. Whilst you are there you may as well see the colony of Kangaroos taking residence at the national park too.
