48 HOURS IN JAIPUR | EVERYTHING TO SEE & DO
Jaipur, also known as 'The Pink City', is one of the most colourful, vibrant and captivating cities in India. It is the capital and largest city in the state of Rajasthan, and one that needs to be on your India bucket list! It is jam-packed with history, jaw-dropping sights and is part of the famous Golden Triangle route, making it one of the most popular spots to visit.
Jaipur was the final stop on our India adventure with On The Go Tours, and I think we may have saved the best for last. Check out our video below to see everything we got up to during our 48 hours in Jaipur, and keep scrolling for a lot of snaps and more info on what to see & do.
1. Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride
We had heard that Jaipur has some of the most beautiful sunrises in the world, and what a better way to experience our first sunrise here than in a hot air balloon. We absolutely love ballooning, and have experienced many all over the globe - but this has got to be one of our favourites.
Not only was the sunrise and views absolutely breathtaking, the landing made it extra special. As we approached the ground we were greeted to a group of locals chasing our balloon to say good morning. This was a moment we will never forget.
We booked with SkyWaltz.
2. Visit the City Palace
The City Palace is one of the most popular spots here in Jaipur, and for good reason. Built be Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, here you will see a combination of Rajput, Mogul and European styles and is a stunning example of Jaipur’s royal influence. Visitors have access to a portion of the complex, with the rest being blocked off as the royal family of Jaipur still resides here. The City Palace also houses a museum with a fine collection of artefacts and a beautiful temple all worth seeing.
Entrance price: 500 INR
3. Take a Jeep to the Amber Palace
Amber Palace is one of the most well known and most visited forts in all of India. Perched on a hilltop, this 15th century fort was built using Mughal style architecture and truly is a stunning site to see. Constructed from red sandstone and marble, this opulent palace is laid out on four levels, each with its own courtyard. We suggest taking jeeps to get up the mountain and spend the afternoon exploring the palace grounds.
Entrance price: 500 INR
4. Snap Photos of Hawa Mahal
If you have googled photos of Jaipur we are certain you have seen snaps of this beautiful facade. Hawa Mahal is a stunning pink sandstone fortress looking over the streets of Jaipur. Originally built in 1799, it was used as a vantage point for ladies of the royal household to observe the city. At five stories high and with 152 windows placed onto delicate, rounded latticed balconies, this is a photo spot you do not want to miss.

5. Visit Jantar Mantar
Dating back to the 18th century, Jantar Mantar is an astronomical observation site like you've never seen before. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to 20 astronomical instruments, including the largest sundial in the world. These incredible instruments are used to be able to observe the astronomical positions with the naked eye. If you are into astronomy we highly recommend checking this place out!
