24 HOURS IN SINGAPORE | A NIGHT AT THE FULLERTON HOTEL
It wont come as a surprise to any fellow Aussies out there that we had a long layover in Singapore during our journey from down under to Europe (5 hours to Singapore + 11 hours to Athens = a pretty standard flight to get to anywhere as an Australian).
Instead of complaining about the extended wait, we used this opportunity to head out and re-visit one of our favourite Asian cities. With limited time here, we needed a hotel that was both central and also one that didn't mind a 2am check in - The Fullerton Hotel was the perfect stop for us.
A greatly appreciated airport pick-up and a swift check in straight to our room was a godsend due to our early morning landing. Knowing we would be pretty tired from a night of flying we headed straight to bed to reset our body clocks and be fresh for the mornings adventures.
Before we even chat about the beautiful old building that has been renovated from the old historical post office of 1928, we need to mention the service the staff at the Fullerton provide. They had heard about our upcoming nuptials in a few weeks so when we arrived to our room there was a slice of delicious chocolate cake with candles and everything (the cake had happy birthday written on it due to a mixup in the kitchen - but nonetheless we had cake!)
Our day in Singapore began with a delicious buffet breakfast laid out on a cute table overlooking the Singapore River. After a coffee, eggs and maybe a few cheeky pancakes - we were refuelled and ready for a day of exploring the city.
Whenever a friend or family members asks us where they should go in Singapore, we tell them to head straight to the Marina Bay. Here we saw the Future World expo which is currently on display at the Art & Science Museum. We also squeezed in some shopping at The Shoppes Marina Bay Sands, walked through the Gardens by the Bay and found a little vegan restaurant for dinner at Clarke Quay. Who says a day isn't enough time to see a lot of the city?
Before we knew it was 11pm and we were driving back to the airport for the next leg of our trip - Athens. We LOVE Singapore, and 24 hours was definitely not enough time to see and do everything we wanted to - a return trip has to happen soon!
You can book a Strait Club Quay Room for around AUD$300 a night.
Flying The Nest was welcomed as a guest of The Fullerton Hotel, however as always all opinions are our own.
