BEST SPOT IN LAOS FOR THE VIEWS: RIVERSIDE BOUTIQUE RESORT
Checking into Riverside Boutique Resort, Vang Vieng
Located on the bank of the Nam Song River, Riverside Boutique Resort is a beautiful hotel with some of the most epic views of Vang Vieng (and Laos in general) that we have ever seen. The rooms are laid out around an inviting swimming pools, and offers a stunning display of the surrounding lush landscapes and forest-clad limestone mountains.
It's one of those destinations where you need to take a moment to just look out and realise the view in front of you could easily be snatched straight out of a travel magazine.
The Room
Depending on what season you book in, rooms will generally set you back at around $200 a night. For Australians travelling this is an absolute bargain but for Laos, this is much closer to the pricier luxe side. Of course the views from poolside is what you are paying for so it was a shame that the rooms didn't match the price tag.
The room was spacious with linen reflecting the wealth from the surrounding tribes (one of which we stayed with) on our king sized bed. Cable TV and fast WiFi was a home comfort we couldn't thank enough for and the bathroom included a large bath with natural soaps and shampoos.
The room was nice and one we could easily recommend to those who aren't looking for the Vang Vieng hostel life, just when compared to what $200 will get you in just about every other South East Asian country we expected a lot more.
The View From That Pool
So let's chat about that view, one I am still talking about to this day. We aren't the travellers that tend to hang around the pool all day, but we couldn't fault anyone for doing so here. The lush mountainside sits right in front of you with the sounds of locals using the river filling the crisp air.
What To Do In Vang Vieng
Hot Air Ballooning: Vang Vieng is known for it's jaw dropping sunsets, and what a better way to watch it floating above the mountains in a hot air balloon.
Visit Blue Lagoon & Explore Caves: The Blue Lagoon is a beautiful spot to cool off from the Laos heat. The water flows down from mountain side streams creating a stunning blue, refreshing lagoon. While there make sure you also check out the cave in the mountain nearby. Flashlights are available for rent!
Bars & Nightlife: Vang Vieng is known as a party town for backpackers. If you love a good weekend out than there are plenty of bars and clubs to choose from.
Go Tubing through the Water Cave: Also known as Tham Nam, this is one of the most popular caves to visit as you get to go tubing through it!
Kayaking and Canoeing Tours: Because Vang Vieng sits on the Nam Song River, it is easy to find activities that involve exploring it. One great way to see more of the river is by kayak or canoe!
You can book a Deluxe Double Room from AUD$142 per night twin share.
Flying The Nest was welcomed as a guest of Riverside Boutique Hotel, however as always all opinions are our own.
