THE BEST WAY TO SEE PARIS BY NIGHT

Paris is one of the most beautiful cities we have ever travelled to, and by night time it becomes one of the most magical. With a crisp chill in the air we rugged up with jackets, gloves and a beanie to keep our ears warm before hopping on bikes to begin our moonlit journey through the city of love.Nothing has taken our breath away more than watching the sun go down in France and seeing the city of Paris light up. We witnessed The Eiffel Tower sparkling over the city, Notre dame illuminating the streets and the Louvre pyramid glowing with barely anyone in sight ... trust us when we say it is absolutely magical to see this city with the stars out.Exploring Paris is very much achievable by foot but one of the best ways to see all these sights when the sun has set here in Paris is to cycle. With bike lanes lining many streets, it is easy to ride through the city, taking in all its beauty as you move from site to site.We teamed up with Fat Tire Tours for an evening biking through Paris, which to date has become one of the most memorable moments during our time in Paris.

Cycling Paris by Night

We started our evening exploring the Latin Quarters, known as the bohemian side of Paris. We cycled along streets lined with cool cafes and restaurants situated in stunning Parisian buildings, the area known for its amazing nightlife. As we made our way down we felt the area go from quiet streets to noisy roads bustling with life. It was hard to resist the urge to stop and join in on the fun. We noted the area and vowed to return to the area for dinner one night.Once we made it out of the Latin Quarters we hit the water and rode through Ile de la Cite which is considered the heart of Paris. We think our guide deliberately toyed with our senses on our journey as he knew just where to stop next. Our bodies had warmed up just enough from the cycle to warrant a cold delicious treat. We stopped off for a cheeky ice cream at Berthillon, one of the most famous ice creameries in all of Paris, two scoops later and we were ready to hit the iconic sites. We learnt about each buildings history as we cycled to Notre Dame, the Love Lock Bridge, the Louvre and the Arc du Carrousel, all lit up and, we may even dare to say, more beautiful looking than during the day. I think our personal favourite was seeing the Louvre pyramid glowing without the day time crowds surrounding it.Of course we had to end the night with the most iconic sight in Paris... the Eiffel Tower. However this was not by bike but instead we ended the night onboard a boat cruise on the Seine, sipping wine and taking in the romantic city as the tower began to sparkle. At 11pm we floated along the water, passing the Eiffel Tower as the light show began - the perfect end to our night under the stars.Paris truly is the place to experience by night.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04iRt7Tba9QBook a Paris Night Bike Tour with Fat Tire Tours for 32.00€ per person.

A big thanks to Fat Tire Tours for taking us out to explore Paris by night. As always, our opinion is our own.
