HARRY POTTER FILMING LOCATIONS IN LONDON

For all fellow Harry Potter lovers out there you need to travel to London! Many scenes from all 8 movies were filmed throughout London and JK Rowling herself gained a lot of inspiration from this beautiful city.

Here are some iconic filming locations you can easily visit during your stay as a muggle (or if you got that famous letter - lucky you!) here in London.

Kings Cross Station

As we all know The Hogwarts Express departs from Platform 9¾ at King’s Cross Station, which was actually filmed between Platforms 4 and 5. If you want to experience something a little more magical, head to the entrance of platforms 9, 10, and 11 on the west side of the station. There you will see a trolley disappearing through the wall … yep, Platform 9¾!

Reptile House at the London Zoo

See the very spot Harry first discovers his gift of talking with snakes in Harry Potter and the Philospher’s Stone at London Zoo’s Reptile House. While visiting the Reptile House with the Dursleys, Harry found out he could talk to snakes, and accidentally released a huge boa constrictor - remember!

Millennium Bridge

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince opens with London's Millennium Footbridge collapsing. This pedestrian-only steel suspension bridge crossing River Thames is truely worth a visit, giving incredible views of St Paul’s Cathedral.

The Leaky Cauldron

Leadenhall Market in the City of London was used as Diagon Alley in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The entrance to wizard’s pub, the Leaky Cauldron, is in real life an optician!

Gringotts Bank

Scenes for Gringotts Wizarding Bankwere filmed in the grand interior of Australia House on Strand in central London.

Westminster Tube Station

Harry uses Westminster Tube Station when travelling in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and had to be closed to the public for an entire day during filming (which we're sure cost a lot of money to do)! Westminster is one of London’s oldest stations and is close to many main attractions including the Westminster Abbey, Parliament Square, Big Ben and the London Eye.

There are many other filming locations and areas of inspiration for JK Rowling scattered throughout the city of London. During our time in London we experienced a Muggle Tour to find all these hidden spots.

We, of course, filmed our day touring London through the eyes of Harry Potter...
