CHECKING INTO THE BALMORAL, EDINBURGH
While many hotels claim to have Edinburgh's landmarks on their doorstep, few can say their doorstep is a landmark!
Located in the heart of Edinburgh, the luxurious and charming Balmoral Hotel is one of the cities leading luxury hotels. For over a century The Balmoral has become a significant feature to Edinburgh's skyline courtesy of its famous clock tower.
The Balmoral has become a favourite for celebrities due to its lavish and exclusive demeanor, being located in the heart of the city right next to Waverley railway station. The hotel has seen guests such as David Beckham, Oprah and even JK Rowling, who completed the final Harry Potter book here!

Checking In To The Balmoral
We were greeted by a kilted doorman, who happily took our bags and escorted us to the check-in desk. The reception area alone made us realise we were in for a very luxurious stay during our time here in Edinburgh. After a quick check in we received our key and were taken to the 6th floor to our suite.
The Room
High ceilings, a gigantic bed, a marbled bathroom and a Nespresso machine (you know we love our coffee) - our Junior Deluxe Suite had everything we needed and more. Our room gave us incredible views of the Edinburgh Castle and Old Town from its cute, circular windows - the view anyone visiting Edinburgh dreams of having.
Plush bedding and stunning views aside, what we loved most about our stay was the warm and welcoming staff. Our house porter took time out of his day to take us to the hotel roof top for one of the most incredible sunsets we had ever seen, and even let us have a fangirl moment taking us to the JK Rowling Suite where she completed the last Harry Potter book!

The Food
Both mornings we woke up to the most delicious buffet breakfast. Juices, pastries, a lot of coffee and incredible service - it was the perfect way to start our day. The Balmoral also serves award winning afternoon tea held in the Palm Court. With Venetian glass chandeliers, a resident harpist and an abundance of tea and scones, if you want to experience a taste of The Balmoral, spend an afternoon here.
The Area
The hotel is in the perfect location within the heart of Edinburgh. Found on Prince Street smack in the middle of Old Town and New Town, you can easily take a stroll through some of the most iconic streets of Edinburgh within a few minutes.
Old Town is the oldest part of Scotland's capital city. The area has preserved much of its medieval street plan and many Reformation-era buildings. Together with the 18th-century New Town, it forms part of a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site, a city worth being at the top of your bucket list!

Our Final Thoughts
The Balmoral is regarded as one of (if not the best) hotel in Edinburgh, and after experiencing it for ourselves we can absolutely see why. If you are one for lavish getaways then this hotel is the one for you. The rooms, staff and location are all top notch and we struggled to find any faults.
You can book a Junior Deluxe Suites for AUD$1100 per night.
Flying The Nest was welcomed as a guest to The Balmoral, however all opinions are our own.
