A DAY ON THE WATER: RICHMOND, VANCOUVER

The main reason we have chosen Vancouver as our new place to call home for the next few months is not only for its beautiful city and friendly people, but for the nature and wildlife that comes along with it. After almost 2 weeks of settling into our new home we were ready to go and out see what Vancouver had to offer. One early morning we scrambled onto a train and headed down to Richmond to go find some wild life.

Minutes after jumping on our boat we had already spotted bald eagles nesting ready for spring. This was our first time see bald eagles in the wild, we finally felt like we were in North America. Only a short sail further out we began seeing the occasional sea lion lounging in the sun or having a cheeky swim in the cold waters below. Before we knew it, over 100 sea lions where meters away from the boat. We much prefer experiencing wildlife in their own natural habitat, and today certainly gave us that experience.

Steveston EcoTours was kind enough to take us out on their boat for the morning on the hunt for these beautiful creatures. If you ever find yourself near Richmond and want to see them for yourself, for $30 you can be taken out on their 1.5hr Sea Lion Safari.

What to see some footage of our day on the water?

Do you prefer seeing animals out in the wild?

Many thanks to Steveston EcoTours for taking us out for the morning. As always, all opinions are our own.
