10 THINGS YOU MUST DO IN SEATTLE

1. Space Needle

Even if you are in Seattle just for the day you must make time to visit the iconic Space Needle. This symbol of Seattle gives you breathtaking 360 degree views of the city, 184m above the ground. There are telescopes scattered throughout the lookout which are free to use. Inside the needle is an interactive board showcasing how many people have visited the needle, along with where they are from and photos they have hashtagged and put online.

2. Pike Place Market

Pike Place Market was founded in 1907 to provide a place for farmers and customers to meet directly. Farmers continue to sell their locally grown produce and products to shoppers seven days a week, 362 days a year. It is one of the oldest continuously operated public farmers' markets in the United States and one of our favourite parts of Seattle. We suggest going early as the atmosphere is electric, with fish flying and the smell of fresh flowers fills the air.

3. The Market Theater Gum Wall

Yep, Seattle has a wall covered in bubble gum ... well, more like an entire alley covered in bubblegum! The Market Theater Gum Wall is a local landmark in downtown Seattle, located in Post Alley under Pike Place Market. The bricked alley is covered in used chewing gum, with some parts of the wall covered several inches thick!

5. Original Starbucks

For all you coffee lovers out there get excited, Seattle is the birthplace of Starbucks and you can grab your morning coffee at the original Starbucks during your stay in Seattle. Established in 1971, the store has been kept in its original appearance. It has become a tourist attraction, so be ready for a nice long wait for your coffee.

When we set off to find the first Starbucks we were mistaken, like many others, and thought it was the Starbucks on 1st & Pike. If you want to visit the original you need to go into the Pike Place Markets, turn right and keep walking down until you see a massive line!

6. Snoqualmie Falls

This 268 foot waterfall on the Snoqualmie river was one of our favourites things we saw during our time in Seattle, and it seems many others feel the same. It is one of the most popular attractions in Washington and if you look at the images below you can see why.

8. Chihuly Gardens and Glass

This museum showcasing the studio glass of Dale Chihuly is beautiful. As you wonder through the exhibit you feel as though you have entered Wonderland, full of delicate gardens you may not touch.

9. Seattle Aquarium

Right on the Seattle Pier this aquarium showcases exotic sea creatures along with otters and seal lions. We suggest after checking out the Farmers Market to head down towards the water and spend the afternoon here.

10. Kerry Park

Is it views you are after? Then Kerry Park is where you need to be. You can get amazing photographs of the city of Seattle, along with the Space Needle and Mount Rainer. After exploring a lot of the city we thought Kerry Park had the best views of all (it may of even beaten the Space Needle views).

Many of these activities can be done using the Seattle CityPASS. For $69(adult) and $49(child) you can use the pass to go up the Space Needle twice, visit the Seattle Aquarium, go on a harbour tour, visit the EMP Museum OR Woodland Park Zoo and visit the Pacific Science Center OR the Chihuly Garden and Glass. We think it is a pretty handy pass to have to check out the major attractions in the city of Seattle.

If you want to see more of our time in Seattle, here is a playlist of our daily vlogs during our week stay. Go grab some snacks, a hot beverage and enjoy.
