EXPLORING THE BACKLOTS OF WARNER BROS. STUDIO
During our travels through Los Angeles we knew we just had to go on a backlot tour if we got the chance. We love movies, however living in Perth we don't get to be immersed in the film industry as much as we would like. Lucky for us, Warner Bros. Studio Tours invited us with open arms to come and explore their backlots where so many television shows and movies we love have been filmed.

We were silly excited to finally go and see our first real television and movie sets at the famous backlots at Warner Brothers Studios. Once we arrived and got our tickets, grabbed a coffee and waited for our tour time to get called.

Our time was called and we were ushered into a small theatre to watch an introductory video that showcased all the TV shows and movies that have been created by Warner Bros. and scenes that were filmed on the this very lot. After the clip was over we met our friendly Warner Bros. host and jumped on our elongated golf cart.

The tour takes about 2 hours and is led by an amazing guide in a small group of about 12 people. As we drove along in our over-sized golf cart, our guide began to point out various points of interest. One of our favourite parts about the tour is that Warner Brothers' lot is not a historic artefact of Hollywood, but an active production site with many TV shows and movies underway during our visit.

Something we found interesting is how they try and not waste any space on the block for filming opportunities. Even driving down what looked like a road from Wisteria Way was in fact writers rooms - we were fooled.

As we drove around the larger set pieces the guide filled us in on what movies and TV shows were filmed there, this included entire city blocks that represents life across the USA!

If you are big Friends fans then you must visit! We were able to see the entire set of Central Perk, even the chalkboard was preserved from the very last episode.

As it was Batman's 75 year anniversary we were able to look through exhibits showcasing real costumes and bat mobiles all used in the Batman films.

There was also a Harry Potter exhibit set up with a tonne of memorabilia on display. We even had the sorting hat put us into a Hogwarts House, we both got Gryffindor.

After taking way too many photos of props and costumes, we were taken to the Warner Bros. Prop Shed which has over 450,000 props stored and available for other studios to rent. So, of course we had to a take a few more photos!

We were also lucky as it was Oscars season, therefore there was a special display for films that have won and have been up for Oscars made by Warner Bros.

After exploring more lots and studios (unfortunately, no photos allowed inside the studios) we arrived back where we began. We recommend that if you want to see the studio in action then visit on a weekday, however if you want to explore more sets and studios go on the weekend when they are not in use. We really want to come back on a weekend so we can have a sneaky peak at the Ellen stage and The Big Bang Theory set!
