Travelling as a couple is so unique. You are not alone, yet you are not with a group of friends. You are a unit, travelling together and sharing all your experiences (the ups and the downs) with someone else. Being able to see new places and sights for the first time and doing these things together makes it so special. It allows you to create memories that will last a life time and knowing you shared them with each other deepens your relationship.

We have been together for seven years, engaged for 9 months and have been travelling as a couple since 2009. We feel as though deciding to travel together is one of the best choices we have ever made. Many say that travelling as a couple will either 'make or break' a relationship and of course we can see how that may be the case. You're literally with the other person 24 hours a day and you really do get to know each other on a deeper level. There is no hiding who you really are. We know it can be tough for some, but our travelling experiences have only made us stronger.

We feel the key to travelling as a couple and making it work is compromise. We do have similar interests, yet there are still times we give and take with one another. Comprise not only allows your partner to experience something they have always wanted to do, but it also gives you the opportunity to see another side of travel you never would of experienced on your own. And this is what couple travel is all about - doing things with and for your partner!

We also need to remember that no relationship is perfect and you are bound to fight at one stage or another. We feel the best solution to an argument is to talk with each other truthfully and really listen to what you partner has to say - and again compromise is key! On the other hand, the support that comes from travelling as a couple is amazing. You will always have your partner there to cheer you up and get you back on your feet when you are feeling sick, tired or down in the dumps. You will always have someone there when you need someone to talk to or to give you encouragement when facing your fears. You will learn so much more about each other and when you feel homesick they are your piece of home you get to take along with you.

Travelling as a couple has been the best thing we have ever done, it has bonded us and made our relationship that much stronger. We now have something special that we can both share that will last a lifetime.
