COMPLETE GUIDE TO BROOME, WESTERN AUSTRALIA - WITH A BABY!
When little Hunter turned eight weeks old, we were ready to head off on our first family trip together. We were looking for somewhere that would be a quick flight, warm and relaxing. As we were living in Perth at the time, we thought Broome would be the perfect spot for our first trip. After a short 2.5 flight, we finally arrived, and we were on our first trip as a family of three!
Tips for Flying with a Baby
This was our first time flying with a baby, so of course we packed way too much and had all the first parent nerves as we made our way to the airport. Our flight from Perth to Broome was only 2.5 hours long and at 2 months old Hunter was still napping every three hours.
We recommend feeding during take-off and landing to help their little ears adjust to the air pressure. We did this and found it also helped distract them while other passengers were boarding the plane. After feeding the hum of the plane drifted little Hunter off to sleep and she woke up right as we were landing.
We feel this age was actually an amazing age to fly as they really do just nap so much during this newborn stage!

Where We Stayed
Kimberley Sands Hotel
Once we arrived in town we were looking for a hotel that was affordable, within walking distance from the beach and had a big pool. After a little googling we decided to book in for a few days at Kimberley Sands Resort & Spa. It's a perfect family-friendly hotel complete with cocktails by the pool and spacious rooms for your little ones to run around.
Eco Beach Resort
If you are looking to get away from the crowds we recommend taking the 1.5-hour drive south to Eco Beach Resort. If you’re looking to disconnect and unwind, this is the perfect spot!
Set amongst the pristine and untouched Kimberley Coast, you can spend time right on the beach and relax, and there are several unique accommodations you can choose to stay in from basic eco tents to Eco Villas.

The Billi Resort
On our last two nights, we were looking for something super unique and discovered that in the heart of the town of Broome you can go luxury glamping! At Billi Resort you can book to stay in your very own luxury tent with even its own bathroom!
Things to Do in Broome
Watch the Sunset on Cable Beach
This is a must do! If you ask anyone who has been to Broome they would agree that Cable Beach is one of Australia’s best sunset spots. If you have a 4x4, you can drive right onto the beach and watch the sunset from your car. You can even choose to go on a camel ride or simply watch the camels from the beach.
Roebuck Bay
If you head down to this bay at low tide, you might be able to see the mangroves peeking out from the stunning turquoise waters. It's quite a sight! You can also visit during a full moon to witness the unique Staircase to the Moon, a natural phenomenon that occurs when a full moon rises over the exposed tidal flats of Roebuck Bay.
Matsos Brewery
As lovers of ginger beer, this is one of our favourite places to grab a drink in town! It is also an excellent place for lunch. We recommend the cold prawns as they pair very nicely with the brewery's beer tasting plate!
Gantheaume Point
This location is where you can find dinosaur footprints. They are estimated to be around 130 million years old! It's also a great whale watching spot too!
Head to one of Broome's Markets
Every Thursday night, a great market is held at the Town Beach Reserve right on Robinson Street. It is held from June to September, and you can enjoy the local cuisine, live music, and browse through a collection of local stallholders. We recommend coming here to grab dinner!
Take a Day Trip to James Price Point
Before you leave Broome, we recommend you take a day trip up to Cape Leveque. You can experience the towering red cliffs and see the beautiful coastline for yourself! It is an hour and a half drive north from Broome, so bring a picnic, enjoy the shoreline, and even pop in for a swim in the crystal clear waters!
What we Packed
As this was our first time travelling with a little one we aren’t sure how much advice we can give when it comes to packing. We are still trying to get the hang of this whole travelling with a baby thing too! BUT we did share everything we packed in our Broome travel series over on our YouTube channel.
