STAYING IN THE HEART OF ATHENS | ATHENS CENTER SQUARE HOTEL

We're in Greece! We have finally returned to Europe and this time we are hitting it up during the summer and boy are we excited to be here...also getting married here does kinda help.

After flying Scoot airlines on their inaugural flight from Australia all the way to Athens we needed a place to stay for the night before heading over to the island of Mykonos to do some last minute wedding planning prior to our guests arriving.

As we only had one day in the city we needed to find a hotel that was central and in walking distance to all the archaeological sites - and that is exactly what we found staying at Athens Center Square Hotel.

Checking into Athens Center Square Hotel

After arriving in Athens after a long flight from Australia the jet lag hit us hard, all we wanted to do was get to our hotel room and jump into bed. Finding it way cheaper to rent a car for the day than to pay for a return taxi to Athens center we decided to drive ourselves  in and head straight to Athens Center Square Hotel.

Many hotels don't have their own parking - so after looking around we found a 24 hour parking spot (which was a little harder than anticipated) for about 10 euros a day. Parking receipt in hand and bags in the other we found the hotel tucked away down a little pedestrian street filled with fresh farmers markets and stalls.

The Room

The room had everything you would expect in a standard hotel room. Twin beds, tv, desk, clean bathroom with shower, much need air con and free wifi. A little bonus that we did not expect was an incredible view of the Acropolis right outside our large bedroom window!

Our room also offered a Greek buffet breakfast, which we unfortunately did not have time to enjoy as we had a flight to Mykonos the next day at crazy-o'clock. A nice touch however is for early departures they offer a basic breakfast any time of the night.

The Rooftop

As our first day in Athens came to an end we decided to go up to the rooftop to have a little celebratory drink - and the view that greeted us was jaw dropping! With pastel pinks and blues filling the sky we grabbed a cocktail and watched the sun set over the Parthenon.

What a way to end our first day in Greece!

The Area

Location, location, location! Situated only 300 meters from the Plaka and Monastiraki Square (metro line No 3 direct from the airport), the Hotel Athens Center Square is a short walk from all the major archaeological sites. The Acropolis, Archeological museum, Ancient Agora, galleries, parliament and Monastiraki flea market are within walking distance.

If you are looking for a place to eat nearby we totally recommend grabbing a falafel in pita bread from Falafellas with a side of tzatziki.

Book a nights stay at the Athens Center Square Hotel for AUD$150 per night.

Flying The Nest was welcomed as a guest of Athens Center Square Hotel, however as always, our opinions are our own.
