If you are looking for a luxurious place to escape the hustle and bustle of Bangkok city without breaking the bank - you need to check out Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit. Connected to Asok BTS skytrain station, Sukhumvit subway station and Terminal 21 shopping mall, this Luxury Collection Hotel is steps away from all the best the city has to offer whilst giving you that touch of luxury.
Checking into the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit
One minute you are jumping out of your Tuk Tuk in the heart of one of the most over-populated cities in the world and the next minute you are walking inside a quiet grand entrance hall. The charm starts at check in with the enchanted high rise masking the sounds of the city. With over 10 million people living just outside your hotel doorstep you couldn't tell until you left.
There are so many things to see and do in Bangkok, so just make sure you have some time put aside to take in the hotels pool, outdoor jacuzzi, multiple restaurants and spa treatments. We somehow managed to do a 4-course vegan Thai cooking class and "inspect" the room service menu, that wedding diet should probably start soon.
Luxury in the Heart of Bangkok
Southeast Asia is better known for backpackers and gap year enthusiasts looking to see who can live off the cheapest daily amount possible. Though we are all for this style of travel, we also see travel as subjective. There is not one way or style of travel and not one way is right or wrong. Travel being subjective is something we stand strong for.... so attention hipsters, you can stay at a hostel or a luxury hotel and still be travelling.
So for some, seeing a $300 a night price ticket in Asia is a months board plus food, but for Australians and anyone who has travelled to Australia - you know the value of money and how expensive hotels can be, in comparison the Sheraton Grand Sukhumvit should be charging more.
Walking into our 1 bedroom suite withjoining coat room, large bathroom (robes & a giant bath tub always do it for us), office space to catch up on some vlog editing and a very generous king sized bed combined with some of the best views of the city would easily set you back twice that amount in any other major city.
We have stayed in hotel rooms at a dearer price with less to offer, if you are looking at having a luxury stay in Bangkok, this place is very reasonable one.
Afternoon Thai Cooking Class
During our stay we had the opportunity to experience our very first couple cooking class - Thai style! The class was held in the stunning Basil restaurant, where we met the most friendliest Thai chef who would be teaching us how to cook a four course meal.
Being vegetarian she came up with a delicious menu: Papaya Salad, Korean Mushroom Soup, Red Thai Curry & finishing off with a traditional Thai dessert called Kluai Buat Chi (sweetened bananas in coconut milk - our favourite dish of the day).
After spending a few hours learning to cook these yummy meals and eating way too much we thought dinner would be out of the question. However, when 9pm struck we cheekily ordered room service and it was equally delicious, but we could be biased as Pizza as delivered to our bed which always wins.
Tropical Pool & Spa
Bangkok is also known as Thailand's concrete jungle. With sky rising at every turn, it's hard to find time to relax and unwind in such a busy, built up city. Tucked away on the 3rd floor is a secret Thai oasis.
The pristine pool and jacuzzi is surrounded by a lush tropical garden - the perfect place to escape the city and experience total relaxation. There is also an outdoor restaurant located poolside featuring international cuisines and barbecued meals.
That Breakfast!
We woke up bright and early as we had to leave for our flight to Chiang Rai that morning. Our room included breakfast at the Orchid Cafe and we were super excited to dig in. For the past 3 weeks we had been living off Asian style breakfast's and we were both ready for some pancakes & croissants - the breakfast exceeded our expectations.
A huge fruit station, delicious's cheeses, pancakes, french toast - breakfast also included a buffet of Asian, Indian & Western foods. They even had vegemite for us Aussies! After drinking a lot of coffee and consuming way too many pancakes we checked out and jumped back into the chaos route to our next stop in Thailand.
