SYDNEY APARTMENT GOALS: CHECKING INTO THE ADGE BOUTIQUE APARTMENT HOTEL
When you travel to major cities it's always fun to feel like a local. With so many differences between our home town of Perth and our destination of Sydney we jumped at the opportunity to head out into the suburbs to experience what life is like for a local living in Sydney.
Close your eyes and picture a two bedroom apartment fit with everything you need and on top of that, breathtaking views of the city, open your eyes and you are at the Adge Boutique Apartments.
Checking In: The Adge Boutique Apartment Hotel Sydney
If this is your first time visiting Sydney you may be inclined to fill out your itinerary with personal favourite of The Rocks, Darling Harbour and the Opera House. However, if you have the time we cannot recommend enough to head slightly outside of the CBD and into the suburbs for a quieter locale to relax and have some down time.
This residential suburb can easily be defined by the arts or even "hipster". Walking past cafes sparked brunch ideas and vintage stores were dragging us away from our check in.
The lobby easily takes its roots from the area, with graffiti from local artists covering the walls and unique typography displaying the floor numbers. Upon arrival to our room we were met with a tasty cheese platter and delicious warm apple drink to welcome our stay. It certainly was a nice addition to make us feel extra welcome.
The Room Our Apartment/ New Home
A hotel has completed its job if you not only have a relaxing and convenient stay but it begs you to want to pack up all your things and change cities to move in. This is what we reflected on during our stay at the Adge Hotel.
Complete with a full kitchen, washer & dryer, dining area, lounge room and a bathroom for each of the two bedrooms meant that this was home for the weekend.
You can't help but feel like you are on a trip back to 60's London with psychedelic carpets, white plastic chairs and a fridge that was plucked straight out of the era. This combination of a time where colours "were everything" and the modern blacks and whites means you can't help but commend the decorators on how they made it all work.
We have saved the best bit for last, the room also features floor to ceiling two-walled gigantic windows that also open up to the balcony that extends around the entire apartment. We spent both nights enjoying a drink and watching the sunset from our private balcony.
Let's Talk About Location
Situated in Surry Hills you are about a 10 minute drive from Circular Quay and Darling Harbour (or a 30 minute walk to beat that Sydney traffic). The Adge Hotel is for those who want to experience a hotel in the suburbs instead of the city centre.
To get a feel for Sydney we did both The Rocks and the CBD before making our way out here and we are so happy we did. Quieter streets combined with suburb life meant this weekend was far slower and relaxing, a fitting way to end our trip.
Things to do in Surry Hills
> Head to Toast cafe to grab a coffee
> Check out the boutique paper store Paper2 for some unique gift ideas
> See the wide array of galleries and art establishments
> Play with cats at Sydneys first cat cafe
> Continue on with the rest of your Sydney plans, 10 minutes from both major attractions is a cheap Uber away.
