WHERE TO STAY FOR THE BEST VIEWS OF SYDNEY - HARBOUR ROCKS HOTEL
If you are looking to check into a Sydney hotel that gives you that "wow-moment" the minute you step inside, then look no further than the Harbour Rocks Hotel. Though many rooms offer views of our favourite area of Sydney, The Rocks, you will want to splurge a little bit and book out the Harbour View Suite to get those jaw-dropping sights of the Sydney Opera House.
Checking In: The Harbour Rocks Hotel
Before stepping into this boutique hotel you can't help but stop and look up at this historic establishment. Situated in The Rocks, the building itself has all the charm and history that comes with one of Australia's oldest areas. From being one of the city's first hospitals to then a housing complex and an art gallery, the building still has markings left behind from generations before.
There are 59 unique and intimate rooms spaciously spread out across three floors. I spent my time walking down the corridors just so I can gaze at the artwork placed with their specific purpose. Here you can see photographs of what each hallway and room looked like prior to its refurbishment, a nice touch that allows you to go down history lane.
Due to the age of the building, elevators are not present but the friendly staff are more than happy to carry your luggage up to your room for you as you relax and enjoy the iced tea made in house.
The Room: Harbour View Suite
A viewer pointed out on our video tour of the Harbour view suite: "That is a APARTMENT not a hotel room!!" and we couldn't agree more.
Upon stepping into our room our eyes couldn't help but extend along the long corridor, however it's not until you step onto the balcony that your jaw will drop further as you realise just how incredible the views of Sydney you have from the comfort of your hotel room.
This self serving apartment is fit with a kitchenette, walk in shower, king sized bed, double sofa bed and that rooftop terrace we still can't get over. This is a luxury boutique with all the finishings.
A Breakfast With the Sofitel Touch
This is an MGallery by Sofitel hotel which is all you need to know about what type of service and luxury finishings that will be awaiting you. If you have yet to experience a hotel that carries the Sofitel name, then one thing you need to know is that it's easily becoming our go-to luxury hotel collection.
Breakfast is served in the Scarlett Restaurant with both a-la-carte and buffet options present. Located below the reception, this heritage room contains beautiful exposed brick views inside as well large windows opening up to the views outside.
Words cannot explain the deliciousness of our breakfast enough, only photos will do it justice.
What to do: The Rocks
The Rocks is Sydney's historic centre with buildings dating back to the 18th, 19th and early 20th century. Yes I know for our European readers that this isn't very historic at all but for Australians this is where our country began.
On top of just taking your time walking around this beautiful area we have some highlights worth checking out:
Creperie Suzette: If you are in a rush and can't make breakfast then on your way out head to this touch of Paris right at your doorstep with takeaway crepes and coffee available.
Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb: Still to date - the best adventure activity we have every done in Sydney.
Have a picnic at Dawes Point: Located underneath the bridge, this park offers panoramic views of the Rocks and the Opera House.
Pancakes on the Rocks: I know this is now our second food related tip, but seriously try them, you won't regret it.
Here is our first timers guide to Sydney and you will see why The Rocks made it into our top 10 list.
