SUNRISES & HOT AIR BALLOONS IN LAS VEGAS
It was 3am when we scrambled out of bed, not a time you expect to be waking up in Las Vegas. After a few gulps of coffee we headed to the meeting place ready for our hot balloon ride, arriving to a group of tired, yet excited travellers. Once our Captain arrived it was time to jump in a van and be driven away from the strip to a safe place to fly. As the airport is near the strip, hot air balloons are not allowed to fly too close. Instead we drove 9 miles away to a large open field next to some beautiful mountains - the perfect place for take off.
Our Hot Air Balloon Experience
As the sun started to peak out from behind the mountains, we watched the balloons fill up with air and heat. Before we knew it we were jumping into the basket and waving goodbye to the team that helped get this gigantic balloon into the air.

We slowly rose 1,000ft above the ground, giving us spectacular views of Las Vegas. The sunrise gave everything a beautiful orange hue as we flew over neighbourhoods and mountains. We were so surprised at how smooth the flight was. At one point during our flight our Captain took us right over a mountain, allowing us to fly inches from the mountain top, it felt surreal hovering just above the ground.

We were in the air for about an hour before finding a good area to land on. As we got close to the ground we were told to hold on tight and brace ourselves for landing. Our basket hit the ground and tipped on it's side, giving us an unforgettable landing. We all crawled out of our basket and cheered after having quite the landing.
After working as team to pack up the balloon we were greeted to champagne to celebrate our morning flight. It was a lovely touch to the whole experience.

A hot air ballon ride over Las Vegas starts at $275 for an hour in the air with Vegas Balloon Rides. This is definitely a bucket list moment and something we would recommend you experience at least once in your lifetime.
