Located just outside of Page, Arizona, in the heart of Navajo Country, Antelope Canyon is one of the most magical places we have ever visited. This incredible slot canyon needs to be added to your American Southwest road trip pronto! Here is everything you need to know before visiting Antelope Canyon.

Antelope Canyon, located on Navajo land near Page, Arizona, is a photographers dream, due to the famous light beams that shine down into the narrow canyon during certain times of the day. The smooth, wave-like walls of Antelope Canyon have been shaped by years of occasional flash flooding, eroding the sandstone into the natural wonder we see today.
When is the best time to go?
As the light beams are what make the canyon so special you need to visit when the sun is at it's highest. We found the best time to go is between 10am to 12pm as this is when you will get the most light coming in. Visiting any later will give you a very dark experience, making it hard to capture the perfect shot.
We highly recommend reserving your time slot before you arrive as the 10am to 12pm tours fill up fast. You can reserve your visit through this link.
Important tip: After reserving your time slot make sure you arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time. We saw a couple arrive 6 minutes late and were made to go to the back of the line and wait for the next available tour.

How much is it to visit?
Visiting Upper Antelope Canyon can be quite pricey. To enter the Navajo land you will need to pay $8 per person, and also pay for a guide to enter the canyon - you can not enter without a guide. We visited the canyon during the 12pm time slot costing us $40 each for a 1.5hr tour.
How to get the perfect shot?
Again, it is all about timing. The only way you can get those incredible photographs with the iconic light beams is by visiting between 10am to 12pm.
Also, since Antelope Canyon is one of the most photographed slot canyons in the world, you are most likely going to be trying to take pictures with over 100 people in the canyon with you at the same time. We suggest to hang near the back of your group and always be ready to snap a shot. As the last person from our group left the area we would take as many photos as we could before the next group arrived.
