NATURAL HOT SPRINGS IN BANFF
During our road trip through the Canadian Rockies we spent sometime admiring the natural thermal mineral springs at the Cave & Basin National Historic Site. Discovered in 1883 by Canadian Pacific Railway workers, this natural hot spring was the birth place of Canada's national parks.
Located near the town of Banff, the bubbling hot spring is tucked away in a little cave, with the only natural light source from a small opening in the roof of the cave.
After the natural springs discovery many bathed in the waters as it was said to have healing powers. These days you can not even dip your finger into the water as the waters are home to the endangered Banff Springs snail.
If you are planning a trip through Banff National Park we suggest you make a stop at the Cave & Basin National Historic Site just to experience this natural beauty.
