BANFF WITH A VIEW
During our Canadian Rockies Adventure with Discover Canada Tours we spent a night at the town of Banff. We had heard from friends who had visited previously that the views from the top of Sulphur Mountain were some of the best they have seen - we just had to see it for ourselves!
There were two ways of getting to the top of Sulphur Mountain, either hiking to the top or catching the Banff Gondola - we chose the latter of the two.
The Banff Gondola

When you arrive in the town of Banff you will notice a mountain towering over the town - Sulphur Mountain. When reaching the base of the Banff Gondola we suggest grabbing a coffee before you head up the mountain. The Starbucks at the base is the highest Starbucks in all of Canada!

Getting to the top
As we ascended 698m to the top of Sulphur Mountain, we were awestruck taking in the panoramic views. Sitting back in our little glass enclosed gondola, we marvelled at the unsurpassed views of Banff, the Bow Valley and mountain ranges that surrounded us.
After about 8 minutes we made it to the top.
That view
Our friends were right, once we reached the top we where met with the most incredible view we had ever seen. We were met with a 360 degree view of six scenic mountain ranges from 2,281m above sea level - could it get any better? We felt like we were on top of the world.
Several scenic hiking trails lead away from the summit complex. We chose to take the Summit Walk to the Cosmic Ray Station National Historic Site on Sampson’s Peak. The views were even more incredible at the end of the hike! Something we definitely recommend you do.
