WORLDS TOP SNORKELLING DESTINATIONS

We are both water obsessed and have snorkelled in some amazing places from all around the world. We are always on the hunt for the top places to experience snorkelling and I think we have found them. Here is a collection of the top places we have personally snorkelled at, along with places we are dying to dive into from around the world.

The Great Barrier Reef, Australia

If it's brightly coloured coral and an abundant of tropical fish that you are after, you must experience snorkelling in the famous Great Barrier Reef. This was the place we both scuba dived for the first time, but you can easily just snorkel through the reef and see just as much. During our time out in the water we swam along side black tip reef sharks which was an incredible experience.

Jellyfish Lake, Palau

If you are daring enough you can jump straight into Palau’s jelly fish infested water and live to tell the tale. Over the course of a millennia, resident jellyfish have completely lost their sting due to the lack of predators to fight off. If it is a unique snorkelling experience you are after then this place is number one.

Underwater Sculpture Gardens, Cancun

Back in 2009 a monumental underwater museum called MUSA was formed in the waters surrounding Cancun, Isla Mujeres and Punta Nizuc. The museum consists of over 500 permanent life-size sculptures and is one of the largest and most ambitious underwater art attractions in the world. Each of the sculptures is made from specialized materials used to promote coral life.

Dean’s Blue Hole, Bahamas

The mysterious blue holeis created when the ceiling to an ancient underwater cave system collapses and Dean's is thought to be the world's deepest. After diving into the water from the white sands of the Bahamas, you're only a few kicks away from the sand going from 5 to more than 600 feet deep!

Silver Bank, Dominican Republic

Located about 90 km north of the Dominican Republic, the Silver Bank is one of the few breeding and calving zones of the North Atlantic Humpback Whale. A dream of ours is to swim with these gigantic creatures and we are dying to head out to the Dominican Republic to experience it.

The Maldives

PHOTO DIARY: MALDIVES PHOTOS

If it's a tropical paradise you're after, than you have to experience snorkelling in the warm waters of The Maldives. Home to colourful coral, reef sharks and gigantic sea turtles - you will never want to get out of the water! During our time exploring the islands of The Maldives we sat on the beach and could see reef stretching far and wide through the clear waters. It's seriously a snorkelers dream.

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

Also know as Stringray City, Grand Cayman Island is one of the most popular snorkel sites in the world. Where else can you go to be surrounded by hundreds of Southern stringrays in the clearest waters you will ever see?

Crystal River, Florida

Crystal River is known as the Home of the Manatees. It offers one of best locations to see and interact with the Florida manatee, also known as gentle giants. You can simply just float on the water as you watch manatees gracefully swim by.

La Paz, Mexico

Another snorkelling experience right near the top of our bucket list is to swim with whale sharks, something you can experience in La Paz, Mexico. Whale sharks are the largest fish in the ocean and return every winter to the waters of the Bay of La Paz.

Gansbaai, South Africa

For something a little bit different, why not go snorkelling inside a cage? The cage will become very handy in the waters of Gansbaai in South Africa, as you will have some friends swimming in the waters with you - Great White Sharks. This may be one of the most craziest snorkelling ventures to accomplish. Would you be brave enough.

Have you ever experienced snorkelling? We would love to read your snorkelling stories.
