HOW TO (REALISTICALLY) QUIT YOUR JOB AND TRAVEL THE WORLD

Is a life of travel 100% what you want?

You need to first sit down and think "do I really want to travel?" I am sure if you ask all your friends if they would want to travel, I bet all will say YES. But how many would want a life of travel, to truly travel long-term, away from their family and friends? Long-term travelling isn't for the faint-hearted, it can be challenging, overwhelming, yet oh-so-rewarding. Do you have it in you?

Save! Save! Save!

Travel and money go hand in hand. You need to create a travel fund today! Get into budget mode. Live a minimalistic lifestyle, move back in with your parents, sell your car - what ever you can do to save as much as you can, and trust us, the adventure is worth it.

Be prepared

As the one-way flight date draws nearer, you will need to make sure you are prepared. Ensure you are travelling light, yet have all the essentials you need. Is your passport current? Do you have the visas you need? What about travel insurance? Are there any vaccinations you should of already had? We suggest sitting down, writing a list of things you need to get organised, and then do them!

 Start cheap

We suggest for beginners to start somewhere cost effective, like South East Asia. It is a stunning area and very traveller/backpacker friendly. Work out which countries are the cheapest places to travel, begin there and work your way up. Of course, it all depends on your budget and how much you have managed to save. If you can go all out, then go for it!

Find odd jobs along the way

If you truly want to travel long and far we suggest finding work on the road. Bar/restaurant work, teaching English abroad, picking fruit ... there are so many ways you can make some money while you travel.

Do it now, rather than later

Of course, you can travel when you are older, but wouldn't you want to do it when you have no commitments? It is so much harder to leave when you have financial commitments and responsibilities. We are strong believers in travelling while you are young!

Always remember ...
