THE UNDERWORLD OF HAWAII IN A SUBMARINE
We were given our tickets, boarded a boat and sailed out to deeper water. From a distance we began to see bubbles appearing on the surface of the water. They dramatically increased until we saw a large white vessel arising from the sea.

Today's venture entailed boarding an Atlantis Submarine and exploring the depths of Waikiki. One by one we went down the hatch into a long dark room with seats back-to-back and port holes lining the walls. We were the last to board, which ended up working in our favour as we were sat right next to the captain and could watch as he steered the submarine.

As we began our decent we peered out into the round, blue window and hoped we would see a different part of the ocean then we did during our scuba dive.

Slowly the submarine was surrounded by fish, peering into the port holes as if greeting us to there underwater home.

Once we got to the bottom of the ocean floor we saw the St Pedro (111 ft Korean fishing vessel. Purposefully sunk in 1996 , we had front row seats to this popular dive site. Our captain drove us by twice, ensuring both sides of the sub got equal views of everything.

We didn't realise that these reefs were just the appetiser as we slowly made our way to the main course - ship wrecks and Japanese planes. Both ships and planes were actually purchase by Atlantis Submarines and stripped down until they were eco-friendly and sunk to not only make for amazing dive sites, but for homes for hundreds of sea life.

As we reached our deepest depth of the day, 107 ft, it really hit us how lucky we were to have an opportunity to explore such deep waters. It truly was an amazing experience.

With a final sighting of some sleepy sea turtles we made our way back up to dry land. Atlantis Submarines has given us that extra kick we needed into going for our diving licences. We want to see these ship wrecks up close and personal!
