CAN TRAVEL STRENGTHEN A RELATIONSHIP?

We are clearly big advocates of travel and believe that it can truly strengthen a relationship - and we aren't just talking just about relationships with significant others. We believe travel can strengthen relationships with parents, siblings, friends and even ones self.

Parents & Siblings

We notice that as people get older, family holidays become less and less. However, we are big believers in keeping the family vacations going throughout adulthood and we try and go on a family trip at least once a year. Once you have moved out of home communication does begin to dwindle between you and your family members. Travel allows you to create memorable experiences together which become stories for you to recount during family catch-ups and dinners. It will also allow for you both to get to know each other better as you go through the stages of adulthood.

Friends

It's one thing to tell your friends about a crazy skydive in Dubai, a hectic taxi ride through Thailand or a peculiar drink you had in Fiji; it's another to actually share that experience with them. It's fun to be able to get together and recount your tales and share inside jokes from the road. Plus,  you will get to know your friends beyond the drunken party nights, but have experience living in close quarters, seeing how each react to different situations and learning the good (and the bad) about each other.

We can also makes friends on the road. Meeting people from around the world on tours, in hostels, and on buses and trains will broaden your mind, allow you to share your passion for travelling with others and gives you the ability to exchange crazy stories.

Significant Other

You know what they say, "travel can either make, or break a relationship". When you travel with your significant other, your have to work together as a team to make the trip a success. You will need to discuss basic things like where you will be staying, what will you do each day, where will you eat - and both agree.

Travelling is all about compromising with each other as everyone has different interests. You learn to allow for your partner to experience something they have always wanted to do - and even better, you will be given the opportunity to see another side of travel you never would of experienced on your own. Once you have shared your desires and resolved your differences whilst travelling with your loved one you will both feel closer and your relationship that more stronger.

Yourself

Solo travel. Travelling on your own allows you to have absolute freedom to explore a destination the way you want to, without needing to compromise. Solo travel not only allows you to get out of your comfort zone and be truly immersed in another culture, it is the perfect way to grow your relationship with yourself. It forces you to spend quality time with yourself, discovering new things and finding new talents you never knew you possessed. It gives you the power to tackle any situation because you are on your own and only taking care of yourself.
