THE BIRCHES DENMARK REVIEW

To continue our tradition of using birthdays as an excuse to travel more, Jess decided to surprise me on my 23rd birthday with a good old Australian road trip down southern Western Australia. To my surprise we arrived at a very beautiful house over looking farmland, kangaroos and the valleys of Denmark.

The Birches Denmark

The Birches Denmark is a very luxurious self contained house located on Mt Shadforth just outside of Denmark in Western Australia. Is fully furnished, sleeps 4 people, large lounge room alongside plenty of peace and tranquility.

The story of the house goes that it was designed and constructed by an architect who now rents it out for travellers. This is evidently seen in the stunning limestone design.

The Location

Denmark is about a 4 hour drive if you are leaving from Perth and the birches is 11km outside of Denmark, our only real complaint about staying here was the lacking of correct directions, signage and road care when getting in. Our GPS took us down a road that was found to be shut down and added an extra 20 minutes worth of driving to get there.

However, once you get there pictures cannot prepare you for the beautiful panoramic farmland presented in front of you. We woke up to farm animals talking and enjoyed a cup of coffee as we watched Kangaroos feed. Meals were exclusively eaten on the balcony so we could gaze out in awe.

The Rooms

These are the biggest rooms we have ever been in our life. Each room had a giant fourposter kingsized bed overlooking a sunken lounge room as well as our own porch. Want a night in the room? You can easily cuddle up in your private lounge room to watch a DVD.

Did we also mention that we had our own walk in robe and spa bath? Seriously if this was our bedroom at home we would never leave our rooms!

Service

Seeing as this was a self contained unit and we only stayed for two nights there was no service offered. The directions on where to find the keys were clear and we arrived to a clean house as expected.

Amenities

The kitchen has all the modern appliances that you would require to prepare a meal. The lounge room as a large TV, comfortable chairs as well as a laundry room if you can afford to have an extended stay here.

Final Thoughts

This certainly was a very expensive weekend for a couple, however the house can sleep another two which would bring the costs down if you are looking for a getaway with friends. If you want a step up from glamping in the great outdoors and instead want your own luxurious house - it's hard to not go past The Birches.
