OUR FIRST NEW YORK CITY EXPERIENCE
We decided to end our 5 week Western USA tour with a bang in one of the most recognisable cities in the world - New York City. It was a surreal experience arriving in New York, it was our first time, yet we felt like we had been here due to all the movies and TV shows we have seen set here.
New York City made our top 5 cities of 2014 and for good reason, read about our experience.
Disclaimer: Be prepared for some young faced, cheesy New York photos
Where we stayed
We wanted to be in the heart of the city pulses, Time Square. It did cost us quite a large amount to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square but to be right in the middle of it all was well worth it. There was no excuse to not go out and see Times Square as we could easily jump out of bed and walk out of our lobby into all the action.

Broadway
You can't go past New York City without heading into Broadway. To our surprise we thought it was one street, but there were plenty of theatres down little roads and it was hard not to spend the remainder of our funds on plays. It was intriguing to see big celebrities casually performing on off-Broadway shows as seeing them is not something we get here in Australia.
Being the big Disney fans that we are we could not go past without seeing The Lion King. This was decided months ago before we even left and can report it lived up to our expectations.
Our Review: Maaaah sweeenyaaa!
During our arrival in New York, the Harry Potter craze was in full swing. The final movie was just released, there was a exhibit held down the road and we had just been to Harry Potter World a few weeks earlier in Orlando. When we saw a giant poster of Daniel Radcliffe looking down on us as we ate our lunch- we just knew we had to head back to broadway to see How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
Our review: Daniel Radcliffe can sing!

Movie & TV Show Locations
As you may know we love watching movies & tv shows, so how could we not go searching for them? First stop the Friends apartment.

We even lined up for 2 hours to get into the Cake Boss shop.

Upon leaving our visit to the NBC studios I couldn't help but overhear other travellers picking up rehearsal tickets to Jimmy Fallon. Being a bit nosey I was able to score me and Jess some tickets to see him practice his opening monologue. Later that evening we waited for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to start so we could find out which jokes he picked after the rehearsal.
We so badly want to go back to New York - 5 days was not long enough! Next time we want to head over during winter to spend a white Christmas and New Year in this iconic city.
