ADAARAN CLUB RANNALHI MALDIVES REVIEW

This was one of those once in a lifetime opportunities where our bank accounts were drained quicker than we care to admit. It was always one of our travel goals to sleep in an over water bungalow and saving up to stay here was well worth the hard work. Saying that, at the time of writing this blog this was our most expensive holiday accommodation to date.

Adaaran Club Rannalhi Maldives

The Adaaran Club Rannalhi is located on a very small island that is just one of 1,192 islands that make up The Maldives. There are two types of rooms, the standard rooms and of course the very luxurious and tropical (also the reason you clicked this review) overwater bungalows. Your stay is all inclusive which means breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as snacks come with your package. You can also drink house wine, vodka, beer and soft drinks to your hearts content.

The Location

Well here's the thing, you are on this island to relax and getaway from the hustle and bustle whilst reading books, drinking cocktails and catching plenty of sun. There's no nearby shopping malls or WiFi on the island, just silence and the small waves crashing on the white sand. The island will take around 10 minutes to do a complete circuit, it's a quick but a beautiful walk as you are surrounded by plenty of tropical fish swimming around your toes in the crystal clear waters. It is hard not to wipe that smile off your face when you arrive and presented with a cool cocktail as you step into paradise.

The Rooms

Our overwater bungalow included modern appliances, a queens sized bed and a shower, but the best part was our own private sun deck which allowed us to jump out of bed and run out of our room directly into the sky blue waters. It was a surreal feeling to fall asleep above the water, hearing the quiet slaps of the waves on the support poles. The furniture and flooring were wooden, which gave it a contemporary but tropical decor to ensure we received the full paradise package.

Service

The service here was excellent. You are assigned a dinner assistant who is with you for your whole stay. Generally they are locals who live on the island and you can become quite attached to them as you see them throughout your days. There was plenty of time to talk to our waiter due to the personal approach. I'm not sure if it was because we were Australian, not honeymooners and under the age of 30, but for us the service staff were quite intrigued with us and hung around to talk and ask questions. We became close to one of the younger locals, had some drinks with him during his day off and added him on Facebook, we even chat to him still from time to time.

Amenities

Besides your food and drink, there really isn't much else that is included in your package. They do have a dive centre, which gives a complimentary dive consisting of putting on the equipment and sticking your head into shallow water. Everything else is optional extras, so if you want to use their snorkelling equipment, go out on the jet ski or scuba dive you have to charge it to your credit card. Luckily this was only our second stop on our trip so we had budgeted to do a few of the activities (such as scuba diving and swimming with turtles) which made the stay even more special.

Final Thoughts

It is going to be hard to top the Adaaran Club Rannalhi in the coming years due to its luxury, pure paradise and excellent service. This is one of the cheaper over water bungalows offered in The Maldives, so if you are shocked by the price, try not to look too much at their competitors. This place is perfect for honeymoons, anniversaries and getting away to just enjoy the sand, water and beautiful sunsets.

Travel Tip: The island is cashless - so everything is charged to your credit card when you leave. However, unbeknown to us (coming from the non tipping culture of Australia) ensure you have some change for tipping - the bag boy fortunately made it aware to us that there was tipping on the island. Also, it's hard not to tip your waiter after spending 5 days together.

Price: $4000 for 4 nights for a Triple Over Bungalow - All Inclusive. This worked out to be a $1000 a night, so it was $333 per person per night (there was three of us). It can seem quite expensive when you have a joint travel account, but as we paid our own way and we broke it down to $333 per person per night and it included three meals and alcohol it didn't seem too bad to us.
