BITTEN BY THE BUG
I think Michael Plain was true in saying “once the travel bug bites there is no known antidote, and I know that I shall be happily infected until the end of my life”. In 2009, after coming back from our first holiday together in Bali, we truly caught the travel bug and in the 5 years that followed we had experienced 13 countries together.
As 2014 began, we found ourselves once again planning the next escape from our job, our studies, our reality. But shouldn’t travel be about learning, enhancing our lives, experiencing new things and discovering different ideas?... not about running as far away as we can from our ‘reality’. It dawned on us, we should be wanting to make the life we have a life we don’t want to escape from!
It's time we move from being tourists to being travellers. We don't want to just visit other countries, we want to experience them. Therefore, we have decided to quit our jobs, pack our bags, move out of our parents house, and fly from the sunny beaches of Australia to the icy mountains of Canada.
Once the visas were organised and the flights were booked, ‘Flying The Nest’ was born. Some of the most important moments in history were recorded by travellers and Flying The Nest is our way to leave a stamp on this world.
In the end we will only regret the chance we didn't take, so we are taking this chance. Wish us luck!
