Day 1 (Sept 6): Arrival in Marrakech
Salaam Aleikum! Welcome to the enchanting city of Marrakech, Morocco. This vibrant destination is brimming with sights, sounds, and flavours waiting to be explored. Your adventure kicks off with a welcome meeting at 6pm, where you'll meet your tour leader and fellow travellers. In the evening, gather with your group for a delightful welcome dinner, setting the stage for an unforgettable journey ahead. (D)
Day 2 (Sept 7): From Souk to High Atlas Mountains
Get ready for an authentic "Souk to Plate" cooking experience, immersing yourself in Moroccan culinary traditions. Begin by meeting your host and learning essential Darija words for ingredients. You'll then venture to the local market, where you'll buy fresh meat, vegetables, spices, and herbs from local vendors. Returning to a local home, you'll cook alongside your host, honing your skills and preparing a delicious Tagine for lunch.
In the afternoon, take a scenic drive to the village of Imlil in the High Atlas Mountains. Upon arrival, store your main luggage and load your overnight bags onto pack mules. Embark on a 1-hour trek to the serene village of Aroumd, perched on a rocky outcrop. Here, you'll be treated to stunning views of the High Atlas Mountains and a unique opportunity to experience traditional Amazigh culture. (B,L,D)
Day 3 (Sept 8): Discovering Taroudant
Begin your morning with a delightful bread cooking demonstration for breakfast, followed by an optional early morning walk around the charming village of Imlil. After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Taroudant, nestled at the foot of the Souss Valley and the edge of the Anti-Atlas Mountains.
Taroudant is a wonderful stopover on the way to Agadir, offering a rich immersion into Berber culture. Explore the two authentic souks: the Arab souk, famed for its carpets and leather goods, and the Berber souk, where you can find everyday food and clothing items. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure, allowing you to soak in the unique atmosphere of this historic town. (B)
Day 4 (Sept 9): Immersive Cultural Experience in Oulad Berhil
Today, embark on a walking tour around the charming town of Oulad Berhil. This tour will be followed by a visit to a local family, providing a truly memorable experience and invaluable insight into their unique way of life. The family will demonstrate the art of brewing the perfect mint tea and serve a home-cooked lunch made from locally grown ingredients. This visit offers a wonderful opportunity to learn about their customs, traditions, and daily routines. Spend the rest of the afternoon at your leisure, absorbing the rich cultural experiences and relaxing in the serene surroundings. (B,L)
Day 5 (Sept 10): Coastal Charm in Essaouira
After breakfast, depart for the coastal city of Essaouira, where the medina meets the Atlantic Ocean. You'll spend the next two nights in this laid-back and windswept city. Start with an orientation walk led by your tour leader, who will help you navigate the maze of market stalls and narrow streets, sharing insights into local life in one of North Africa's most captivating places.
Visit the bustling harbor filled with colorful boats and explore the fish souk. Choose your catch of the day and take it to a local restaurant, where it will be expertly grilled for the freshest of meals. Enjoy this delicious meal together with your group. The evening is yours to further explore the charming streets and unique atmosphere of Essaouira. (B,L)
Day 6 (Sept 11): Free Day in Essaouira
Explore the enchanting artists' town of Essaouira, once home to sizeable British and Jewish communities. Its charm has captivated famous figures like Orson Welles and Jimi Hendrix, who, according to local legend, spent much time here in the 1960s.
Enjoy a free day to wander the city's charming sandstone streets, where you’ll hear cart-haulers calling ‘ballak, ballak’. Your tour leader will provide advice on the best ways to spend the day. You might explore Essaouira’s stunning coast and golden sand dunes on horseback, discover the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdallah Museum with its rich collection of artifacts, woodwork, carpets, and stringed instruments, or watch kite surfers ride the waves. Alternatively, you can delve into Moroccan cuisine with a cooking class or venture outside the city to explore the beautiful surroundings on a day trip. (B)
Day 7 (Sept 12): Return to Marrakech and Medina Tour
This morning, drive back to the vibrant city of Marrakech. In the afternoon, meet your local guide and embark on a tour of the old medina, weaving through the bustling souks that form the heart of the city. Visit the impressive Koutoubia Mosque; while the interior is reserved for Muslims, the famous minaret is a sight to behold.
Continue your walk through the historic streets of the medina, leading to the lively Djemaa el-Fna square. Here, experience the local culinary scene with a special tasting session. Sample a variety of seasonal delights, including freshly squeezed orange juice and fried Moroccan donuts. This day offers a perfect blend of cultural exploration and delicious flavors, capturing the essence of Marrakech.

Day 8 (Sept 13): Goodbye Morocco
