10. Get outside more
There’a a natural high that you get from the outdoors. Getting sun, exercise and fresh air for even fifteen minutes a day will make you feel happier from the inside and out.
9. Smile more
According to many experts, smiling may not only show you are happy on the inside. It may actually cause a happy feeling from within!
We all know that amazing feeling we get when we give to others, and research states giving to others makes us happy, even happier than spending on ourselves.
7. Embrace your mistakes
“A life spent making mistakes is not only more honourable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.” ~ George Bernard Shaw
Making mistakes should not be seen in a negative light. They give us life lessons, help us learn forgiveness, help us let go of fears and show us how to live life with no regrets.
6. Be surrounded by supportive people
The people we choose to surround ourselves with will either lift us up or bring us down. Surround yourself with people who reflect the person you want to be. You need to find people who you feel proud to know, you admire and who respect you. When you free yourself from negative people, you free yourself to be you – and being you should be the only way to be.
5. Try new things
It’s important to make the most out of every experience. By trying new things, seeing new things, tasting new things, meeting new people and learning new skills will make your life that more exciting!
4. Stay healthy
Staying healthy is essential if you want to feel happy from the inside and out. When we say ‘stay healthy’ we don’t only mean nutrition and exercise. You need to ensure you get enough sleep, find times to relax and keep in contact with your friends and family.
And remember – it is still okay to have some chocolate every now and then!
3. Do something that scares you
Eleanor Roosevelt said “Do one thing that scares you a day”. Get out of your comfort zone and choose to conquer your fears. You can achieve so much more if you don’t let fear stop you from doing what you want to do!
2. Stop chasing perfection
We all know there is no such thing as perfect, yet we all still seem to search for perfection. It is hard living in a society that floods us with unattainable expectations. But to truly be happy, we need to embrace our imperfections and to recognise that we are enough. If we want to feel happiness then we need to believe we are worthy enough to be happy!
Travelling embraces all points mentioned above. It has the ability to get you outside more, keeps you smiling, it allows you to try new things and gets you out of that comfort zone! And remember, you only need to go as far as your own backyard to find new adventures!
