After spending over 2 weeks in Salt Lake City, we already want to return. It is such a beautiful area of the US with countless things you can do.
Here are 10 of our favourite things we got up to during our visit in Salt Lake City, Utah.
10. Cottonwood Canyons
This 15 mile long canyon provides hiking, biking, picnicking, rock climbing, camping and fishing in the summer months. During the winter, it transforms into a winter wonderland with two ski resorts, Brighton and Solitude, both very popular among skiers and snowboarders.
9. Indoor Go Karting
There are a number of places you can spend an evening racing your travel buddies in go karts. We spent a night at K1 Speed indoor go karting and it was one of the funnest nights we had during out time in SLC.
8. Food Trucks
Salt Lake City is home to some of the best food trucks in the country. With people following their favourite food truck’s every move, to lines running down the street. If you are looking for some good food during your time in Salt Lake City you need to eat at a food truck.
7. Provo Beach
Spend a day being a big kid at Provo Beach. For only $20 you will have access to unlimited bowling, unlimited croquet, unlimited time on the ropes course, unlimited carousel rides, 2 games of laser tag and some tokens to use on the arcade games. Such a great deal, and makes for a really fun day – especially if you are travelling with kids.
6. Temple Square
Located in the center of Salt Lake City, Temple Square is a 10 acre complex owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is a beautiful area with flowers blooming during the warmer months, and covered in snow and Christmas lights during the winter. The Salt Lake City Temple is the largest of it’s kind and a spectacular building to visit.

5. Park City
Park City is a must when visiting SLC. It holds the largest independent film festival (the Sundance Film Festival), home to the US ski team & training center for the Australian ski team, has the largest collection of factory outlets in northern Utah, a number of golf courses and (our favourite) the Utah Olympic Park!
4. Hikes, hikes & more hikes
Salt Lake City has so many amazing hiking spots, it’s hard to choose just one. We recommend checking out Ensign Peak for an easy hike with amazing views, The Living Room for a locals favourite or Little Black Mountain for those looking for a strenuous hike.
3. Thanksgiving Point
Thanksgiving Point Gardens in Lehi, Utah is a place we would recommend anyone visiting Salt Lake City to spend the day. The gardens cover almost 55 acres with more species of flowers and plants than we can count. We suggest renting out a golf cart to explore the area, or even a segway!
Utah is known for having some of the best spots to paraglide in the world! If you are an adrenaline junkie and love these kind of activities we highly suggest you check out Red Hawk Paragliding to experience soaring above Salt Lake City.

1. Lagoon Amusement Park
Home to one of the worlds most scariest roller coasters, Lagoon Amusement Park is the number 1 place we recommend anyone to spend a day during a visit to Salt Lake City. Their latest ride, Cannibal, features the steepest drop in the US, fourth-steepest in the world, and holds the record for the tallest beyond-vertical drop on a roller coaster!
Now on to you – what would you add to our list?
